How do you feel about individuals who use a much larger than average vocabulary in normal...?

I had a boss who had a great vocabulary. In the beginning, we would make a tally mark for every word she used, that we didn't know. There were many at first. She broadened my knowledge and made some words seem more user friendly to me. I became more aware of my speech and words that I could use to enhance my presentations or conversations. If the vocabulary is second nature to the speaker, it is very effective. If not, it is a nuisance.
