What are some good and original modern bands?

I like mostly rock but any genre would be ok. What I dont like is mainstream radio rock that sounds all the same and obscure indie bands with more distortion that music. (no offense) I mean something comparable to the bands from late80s/early90s for example RHCP, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, alternative rock bands etc, that actually brought something new to music.
